Shoki, the Demon Queller, comes down the back with his sword raised and his left hand already closed on a red oni's hair - not the chase, not the aftermath, but the exact moment the demon is caught. A second devil bolts toward the thigh. On a canvas this large, the tradition allows a full scene, and this back stages one.
