Koi-Dragon and Cherry Blossoms Sleeve

Koi-Dragon and Cherry Blossoms Sleeve
Halfway Up the Waterfall
The legend says a koi that climbs the falls at the Dragon Gate becomes a dragon. This sleeve is about the sentence between those two words. The head has already changed: horns, whiskers, a blue mane. The body has not: orange fins, a fish tail, koi scales. Ryuugyo is an unusual subject in the dragon family because it is not an animal, it is a moment.

Full Arm, With a Fin Over the Shoulder
The sleeve covers the arm from wrist to shoulder and lets the creature breathe past the seams: a great orange fin rides up over the shoulder toward the blade, and a corner of black cloud with sakura settles onto the chest. The dragon head takes the outer upper arm, the fish body travels the sleeve in one long diagonal, and the tail sinks into the forearm, partly hidden behind bars of flowing water.

A Dragon's Head on a Fish's Faith
Every element states the same idea from a different side. The blue of the new dragon head repeats in the scales further down, so the change is already spreading through the body. The orange of the fins is pure koi, the color of the creature it is ceasing to be. Sakura blossoms and a few loose petals drift through the black water: the shortest-lived flower next to a transformation that takes a lifetime. The solid dark ground holds all of it in one current.

One Diagonal, Read in Motion
A transformation needs direction, and the arm provides it. The body runs a long diagonal from the shoulder toward the wrist. The head sits on the widest plane of the upper arm, the fin uses the shoulder's curve for its spread, and the scale fields cross the elbow where their repeating pattern bends without breaking. At the forearm the tail slips behind water bars instead of ending on a hard edge, so the creature dissolves into the current rather than stopping - the sleeve has no dead end.

Black Water First, Then the Change
The build followed the order that keeps a dense sleeve honest: outline locking the diagonal, the black wave ground setting depth and rhythm, then color in two temperatures - the cool blues of the dragon parts and scales, the warm oranges of the koi body, and the pink of the sakura.

The Moment Worth Keeping
Most dragon tattoos celebrate the result. This one keeps the effort. The finished sleeve reads as a single creature caught mid-change, and that is exactly why people choose ryuugyo: not because they have arrived, but because they are climbing. The black water will hold the composition sharp for decades, and the story never finishes on purpose.
